Hopefully someday Razer will sell an Ultimate version of their gaming keypad that will allow users to change the LED colors to any of 16 million colors via Synapse 2.0 as they currently do on my Naga Epic mouse as well as my Deathstalker Ultimate keyboard. So I'm just gonna settle for having one of my many blue glowing peripherals glow green, its not the end of the world and I spent enough time trying to hack this hardware to fit my color scheme. Fortunately the keys themselves did not get impacted by the paint as the only parts I painted were non-mechanical. Neither method worked despite the three layers I painted on. Since I was hoping to go from Green to Light Blue I figured that I would be able to yield the same effect using either black or dark blue paint, either by painting over the LEDs directly or by painting over he semi-clear plastic cover that glows below the keys themselves. So I tried to paint the LEDs using black acrylic paint as I had read on a model railroader's forum that this worked well for dulling the color emitted from small LEDs. So if it'd be as easy as just getting another gaming pad similar to the Tartarus but with multi-color options then I'd just do that as it'd be easier, but of course there isn't hence why I'm going down this path.Īlso, I'm not interested in any other gaming pads like the ones from Logitech, I want to stick with all Razer products for my main peripherals. Unfortunately, at this time all of Razers Gaming Keypads are green LED backlit (the Nostromo which I also have is now discontinued). However I recently got the equipment for some custom cable sleeving extensions and have been teaching myself so I think this is something I could handle on my own if I simply have a little bit of guidance on this part.
I'll be honest I'm a total noob when it comes to working with PCBs and soldering. Or do I still need to remove and dispose of the current LEDs and set a new set of Blue LEDs & solder them to the "B"?
So my question I guess for changing the LED colors of the Razer Tartarus keypad from their stock green color to my preferred blue color, do all I need to do is remove and re-solder the middle LED part from their current position of "G" to "B"? Here is a 2 minute video of him doing this:Ībove screenshot displays Razer Tartarus PCB Board with "B", "R", & "G"labels. I did find one video where someone managed to do the same thing as I'd like to for the Nostromo whereas he was able to successfully change the Nostromo LED colors from blue to green. I'd like to hack the Tartarus gaming pad's PCB to remove the stock green LEDs and replace them with blue LEDs to match the rest of my peripheral color scheme.
RAZER SYNAPSE HOW TO CHANGE COLOR CODE
Its a nice soft ambient color that doesn't bother me when I go to bed but helps to illuminate things when I'm pulling an all-nighter banging out some code or just simply goofing off and playing games. So I think you get the point, I like the color of blue. But this paragraph's peripherals don't light up so we can disregard this for the scope of my mission.
RAZER SYNAPSE HOW TO CHANGE COLOR PRO
I do use both when I play battlefield because I prefer the Tartarus for infantry while the Nostromo's joystick toggle fits me better for flight.įortunately I do have a very large desk that also allows me to mount a racing wheel/pedals & about $1,000 worth of all the Cessna Pro Flight controls mounted as closely as I could get to duplicating a real Cessna 172 cockpit's ergonomics (I fly Cessna 172p aircraft for fun in real life). Also mounted behind each of my triple 27" displays, below my desk, and behind my parts cabinets are about a dozen LED strips which are all blue.įor gaming pads I have the Razer Nostromo (which is blue) and the Razer Tartarus (which is green). My liquid cooled rig has 3mm LEDs inserted into various water blocks, fans, & clear plastic fan shrouds as well as a couple LED strips to illuminate the case. I also recently upgraded my Deathstalker Keyboard as well to the Dealthstalker Ultimate Keyboard as like the Naga Epic I can change the LED colors from Razer Synapse 2.0
Just last week I replaced/upgraded my Naga Mouse with the Naga Epic Mouse as the Epic version allows for changing the colors via Razer Synapse 2.0. My main rig has two Razer headsets (Tiamat 7.1 & Carcharias Stereo) which work well. I am a self admitted fan-boy of Razer peripherals.
